Tonight we diddle, apprenticeship to blood, and new in-person event
The inner narrative workshop is TONIGHT
Diddling with Distortion is back!: Reworking our inner narratives toward enduring self-intimacy
Monday 10/30 5:30-7:30pmPST
Developing self-talk, or inner voices that uplift you, clear your perception, and offer wisdom can save your butt. Our inner running narratives are in play almost all the time, and they have very real effects on our physiology and behavior. When we tinker at this level we can clean up major energy drains and thought-noise that makes it hard to listen for and follow what is actually most useful or fun. It is possible to develop inner voices that are so potent they can spark a similar feeling of being heard and encouraged by a trusted external source, a friend, partner, or family member.
In this workshop we will focus our attention on the question: "What are my beliefs and inner narratives about The Dark?" The Dark is an exiled quality in modern western culture. It is associated with mystery, nature, death, uncertainty, and vulnerability. Sometimes this also extends to anything considered strange or different or taboo to dominant culture: sex and the erotic, femininity, people of color, queer people, disabled people, feared creatures like spiders, snakes, wolves, and insects, and more. The Dark and all its associates is an essential aspect of all of our lives and holds its own beauty. What if we could move toward and relate to the dark with less cultural conditioning? What do we need to acknowledge and disrupt in our systems in order to do that?
We will use meditation, creative prompts, and live feedback to get clear on a few core narratives/beliefs we are running related to The Dark, and then reconfigure them into jewel-like, life sustaining, spine tingling landmarks of wisdom in our thoughtscapes.
THIS EVENT HAPPENS THE DAY BEFORE HALLOWEEN/SAMHAIN SO DRESS UP TO HONOR YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT OF "THE DARK"
The Bleeding Circle: Apprenticeship to Blood and Menstruation through art and ceremony
DEADLINE TO APPLY IS NOV 9TH, 12 seats available
What if using your creative power for personal and collective benefit was a universal initiation that belonged to all humans?
Humans have unique gifts and impact on the planet. One of these great avenues of impact is the way we make culture. Culture manifests through shared language, concepts, narrative, art, and ritual (repeated actions or behaviors), and determines how we think, what we prioritize, and how we relate. Culture-making is an inherently creative and artistic process.
In the origins of human culture, there was an understanding of the importance of menstruation as a reflection of cosmic life and death principles. In this series we will learn how those ancestral memories are looking to be born continually Now.
The Dreaming Cauldron: Participatory art and communal experience
The dreaming cauldron is an afternoon and evening in-person retreat that includes a workshop, film-performance, potluck dinner, spacious lounge time, and whatever else the attendees may want to experiment with. Together we “look forward to rest” as the northern hemisphere turns toward the still point of the winter solstice. We work with the voice of the season, moving downward, inward, and into the open dreaming of yin.
Larissa Kaul, nondual animist artist-facilitator, will be offering a film-performance held within a communal ritual structure that invites all participants to join. The workshop earlier in the day will be an exploration of some of our original ancestral technologies of sound, rhythm, sensing, movement, deep listening, and shapeshifting. The workshop will assist us in shedding habitual programming and social contortions so that we can enter into a state of potential communion, with each other and the beyond human realms. There are no prerequisites to attend the workshop, and there will be different ways to participate according to interest and capacity. Workshop attendees will be invited to participate in the interactive ritual portions of the performance in the evening.

The space is large enough to accommodate a few artists and crafters who are looking to showcase some of their work. It's our first time running this event so we can't guarantee numbers of ppl who might be coming through, but there's no table rent. A good situation for someone who isn't heavily relying on sales but wants an opportunity to try out running a table.
We are also looking for people to contribute food for the potluck.
We could use help running the door and helping with cleanup. These positions could be work-trade if you're someone who wouldn't be able to offer a donation.
Wanting to bring something else? Play some music? Do tarot readings? A lot is possible, just let us know.
